Here are the other posts in this series.
The last time I updated ya’ll it was kind of a downer. I wasn’t sure if I was going to give up on blogging and jump full throttle into the work force or not. I also wasn’t sure if hubby was going to go back to school or jump back into the civilian work force himself. There were a ton of vague areas as to what we were going to do.
I have since decided that I need to simply trust in God and do what He created me to do, which was to take care of the home, the kids, and help my husband. I also decided that if God wanted me to take on the work force He would tell me. Until then I wasn’t going to even try to look for a job.
I want to thank all of you who have come to me with your encouraging words! You all have been so instrumental in keeping me focused and reminding me of why I started blogging in the first place.
So there are probably some questions many of you have, right? Please feel free to ask away and I will answer them to the best of my abilities. However, in anticipation of your questions, I will attempt to answer them right here and now:
How Are We Surviving Financially?
All I can say is, “Wow! God truly does provide.”
We were both super nervous when the last day in the military came and went and the moment of truth arrived. But instead of worrying about it like chickens with their heads cut off, we chose to take it one day at a time. We did the best that we could by cutting our expenses back as much as we could, applying for WIC, food stamps, and unemployment, and trusting in God for the rest.
WIC and food stamps have come through for us, and I am grateful that I do not have to worry about my children starving. Unemployment, however is not really working out for us, not because the government won’t give us any, but because of the things hubby has to do to continue collecting it. It’s sort of a long story and I do not want to bore you with details. Just know that it is a moral issue with us that we do not feel comfortable pursuing.
Not to worry, though, as we have received our severance pay and should be well taken care of for many months to come.
What Are You Going To Do With Your Blog?
Surprisingly I recently made some money through my affiliate links (check out my disclosure policy here) that was more than enough to pay for my blogging expenses for at least another year. I’m taking that as a sign that I should continue to blog as long as I can afford it financially.
Nevertheless, I probably will not blog as much as I did several months ago as it takes up a great deal of my time. Between emails, researching topics, doing projects for the blog, creating professional looking photos, writing up posts, and interacting on 5 different social media websites, I’m practically swamped all the time if I’m not careful! It got way out of hand last year, which is why I had to take a step back this summer, take a lot of time off, and re-prioritize. My family began to fall to the wayside, which God was not pleased with. So I submitted and put my family back to the top where it belonged and am so glad I did! If I do not have memories with them; if I fail my kids by not training them on how to live a full life…nothing else in life will matter.
That’s the long version of me saying, for now I am still in the business of blogging. But you never know what the future could hold
Are You Still Organizing?
I’M ALWAYS ORGANIZING! LOL!
Ok, all joking aside, I am not currently going to peoples’ houses and helping them organize. After several months of consultations, organizing for people, and speaking events I burned out. It just made me way too busy. When I took time off during the summer it gave me the ability to think about my career and what I really wanted to focus on. I decided that it was far more rewarding to train people how to organize for themselves than to do it for them. Just talking about organization is more than enough to accomplish that, which is what I happen to do while blogging anyway.
Since the military is my main passion, I hope to some day create my niche in military organization and have a membership area dedicated to all my military clients. But that’s a while from now. I am taking things a lot slower these days, in case you haven’t noticed yet
